In term 3 the school was saddened by the news of the passing of our dear long-term staff member, Ms Joy McElligott.
Ms McElligott had been a teacher and head teacher at Cabramatta High School for 32 years, and made her mark on generations of students. Ms McElligott was deeply passionate about the school and students, and her teaching and care came from the heart.
Ms McElligott was a force of nature, encouraging all to get physically active, and setting high expectations for students. She brought joy and happiness to those she met, and she will be dearly missed by the school, and those who had the fortune of meeting her.
The impact which Ms McElligott has made to generations of students, was seen in the large numbers of ex-students who attended her funeral service. The ex-students shared stories of the positive impact which Ms McElligott had made on their lives.
Our condolences go to Ms McElligott’s family.
We will miss our head teacher, teacher, coach, colleague, mentor and friend.
Ms McElligott’s enthusiasm and passion for the school will continue to inspire us for many years to come.
